- You won't carry your bag on the camel. Your driver takes your main luggage by 4×4 straight to the camp, so it's waiting when you arrive. Bring a small day bag on the camel for water, sunscreen, and your camera.
- Wake before sunrise for the walk, or short camel ride, back up the dune to watch the light change over Erg Chebbi. After breakfast and a shower at camp, you'll head to Rissani, the old capital of the Tafilalet region and still home to a lively weekly souk.

- The road continues to Midelt for lunch, then drops through the Ziz Gorges toward Errachidia. From here, you'll follow the Ziz Valley, a long stretch of palm groves and mudbrick villages fed by the Ziz River. Erfoud comes next, known locally for fossil workshops built into the rock. By late afternoon, you'll reach Merzouga and the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Check in, rest, and get ready for the desert.
- From Rissani, the road runs through Tinjdad toward the Todra Gorges. These limestone canyon walls rise close to 300 meters on either side of a narrow river gorge, one of the most striking rock formations in Morocco, popular with climbers worldwide.
